Vacation photos can be tricky. The biggest issue I have is that you cannot control the weather and you are only at your viewing spot once, so you have to make the best of it. This also could mean that you have a car full of family members who want to just get to where you are going. I was lucky in that I wasn’t with a group of inpatients wanting to hurry to the next gas stop to go to the bathroom. I was fortunate enough to be able to stop to grab a few pictures at several different intervals along the way. I was also extremely lucky to have been passing by this gorgeous spot on such a clear, bright day.

Urban Calgary Photos

Monday, 4 May, 2009

My favorite type of photos to make are ones that show wear and grit. I love texture. Character. These are some of my shots I have made in Downtown Calgary over the past few years. I used a Nikon D70s and a D40x for all these photos.

The thing I like about urban scapes is that you can just walk and shoot and not have to steer a model, direct or control anything. You just get some air and shoot. 100% of these photos were taken on days where I needed a break from work and grabbed my camera. No planning, no thinking, just shooting. I love it. Let me know what you think!
